The sad news reached us that we lost one of our most enthusiastic S&S Association members: Albrecht Peters or better known to us as Ali. He died at the 3rd of June in his apartment in Hamburg. Ali and Erica restored and sailed their beloved “Sascha” in many regatta and were planning again to do the 2019 Transatlantic race organized by the NY Yacht Club. We will miss him not only as an enthusiastic member and an excellent sailor but for many of us as a dear friend.

CLASSIC YACHTS STILL COMPETING - 80 YEARS LATER
The team at Sparkman & Stephens would like to congratulate Matt Brooks and his crew aboard DORADE for their podium finish in the 2015 Rolex Fastnet Race - second place in IRC Class 4. On her "Return to Blue Water Campaign", DORADE continues to amass hardware as she has regularly proved capable of beating yachts eight decades her junior.
A fierce back and forth battle which lasted essentially the entire length of the course, STORMY WEATHER finished a mere 18 minutes behind DORADE after leading her older sister around The Rock - so our congratulations also go out to Christopher Spray and his team onboard STORMY WEATHER.
Both of these yachts are previous winners of the Fastnet Race - DORADE in 1931 and 1933 and STORMY WEATHER in 1935.
A mention also goes out to Griff Rhys Jones and ARGYLL for their efforts in completing this year's Fastnet Race as well - ARGYLL's first!
We are proud to see these beautiful, historic yachts still competing successfully on the race course - being sailed as they were originally intended.
AGM SVENDBORG GROOT SUCCES!!
